Dear Colleagues, Fans, and Friends:<\/span><\/p>\n

The biggest thing that can be done to get my novels noticed is to get more reviews posted on Amazon.com. <\/b>For an Indy author this is a big deal, so your help is appreciated.<\/span><\/p>\n

The trick is to have 4.5 stars or more. That, plus word of mouth (= telling your friends about books you like) is key, especially in these days of lock-downs, which hurt all small businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is a \u201ccheat sheet\u201d to make it easy and safe for readers to post reviews.<\/span><\/p>\n

Barnes and Nobel (https:\/\/www.barnesandnoble.com\/<\/span><\/a>) is the easiest to use, so it\u2019s a good place to practice.\u00a0 The site is the land of large publishers. It can be slow to respond so be patient. All you need is an account there, which is free. B&N has one other major advantage.\u00a0\u00a0You can post anonymously<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

That protects you from trolls and stalkers. Thriller novels like mine are NOT<\/b> politically correct, and trolls may lurk. We all know there is a lot of that in Cyberspace.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both sites (B&N and Amazon) have \u201chelp links\u201d with guidelines. Both sites are encrypted to allow secure purchases.\u00a0 Short reviews are best, perhaps 20 to 50 words, but some on Amazon are much longer. It is the number of \u201cstars\u201d that matters.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is how to post a review on Amazon<\/span><\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. You must have purchased goods (~ $50.00\/year) from Amazon and have an open account with them. If you have not spent money there and given them a credit card, you can\u2019t post reviews.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Go to my Author\u2019s Page or to any of my books on Amazon and sign in there with your Amazon user name and password. To find my Author\u2019s page, just search Amazon under Books for \u201cJohn Trudel.\u201d\u00a0 A search for \u201cJohn D Trudel\u201d works too. I am the Trudel with only one \u201cL.\u201d The one with two \u201cLs\u201d is a hippy-dippy Indian activist from a different universe.<\/span><\/li>\n

    4. Scroll down and\u00a0click on my Book\u2019s title.\u00a0You can do one review for each book.<\/span><\/li>\n
    5. That opens a screen.\u00a0Click on the lower left where it says,\u00a0 \u201cWrite a Review.\u201d<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n
    6. \u00a0Many people prefer NOT to have their real names floating around in Cyber Space where nasty Trolls lurk. You can Set or Change your \u201cpublic name\u201d by clicking the box at the upper right of this screen. Using a pseudonym<\/b> for reviews is probably best.<\/span><\/li>\n
    7. Here\u2019s the step that matters the most:\u00a0Click on the number of stars<\/b>. 5-stars helps a lot. Anything under \u201c4-stars\u201d hurts serious books like mine which have high ratings.<\/span><\/li>\n
    8. All you have to say is 20 words, but you can say more if you wish. Then pick a title for your review and fill that in.<\/span><\/li>\n
    9. <\/b>Click on, \u201cPreview your review.\u201d<\/b>\u00a0You can edit as much as you wish. And, when you are happy with what you said,\u00a0click on the button that says Publish Review.<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
